UIF – Unemployment Insurance Fund in South Africa

UIF(Unemployment Insurance Fund) is the money that that you receive once your employer terminates your service.

You are only eligible for the benefits if you contributed to the UIF while working.

If you’ve quit, been suspended, or gone missing from work, you won’t be able to file a claim.

If the Commission for Conciliation, Mediation, and Arbitration (CCMA) judges your resignation to be a constructive dismissal, you may be able to file a claim.

You must register as a work seeker to be eligible for assistance.

You must apply for UIF benefits within six months of losing your job or being jobless.

UIF Login and Register

To register, report and pay UIF contributions, Employers can use the uFiling service.

In addition to applying for unemployment, maternity, and illness benefits, employees can utilize the system to apply for other benefits.

  • Workers may apply for UIF benefits through uFiling, which allows them to do so online.
  • Users who do not have access to the internet can apply for benefits via a kiosk located at the labor office.
  • Employer’s to update individual employee pay information with the use of uFiling, a secure and easy to use solution.
  • As a result of this, the UIF declaration returns procedure is simplified and your monthly return’s UIF contributions are automatically calculated.
  • When issued declarations are filed and contribution payments are received, uFiling securely interacts with the UIF systems.
  • It is possible for employers to obtain UIF declaration information from anywhere in the globe, as long as they have an internet connection.

UIF Login: Ters Benefits

You may safely submit your UIF declarations and pay your monthly payments using uFiling, a FREE online tool that allows you to do both.

It uses the Internet to allow Domestics, Commercial Employers, and Practitioners to complete and submit monthly UIF declarations and pay UIF payments securely.

How To Log into Your Profile?

Log on click here and enter your Username and password.

How to check your payment status?

Click STATUS in the menu bar and you see your payment status, amount paid and the processed date.

“Processed” means that the system has picked up the application.

If the Rand Value is zero, this means that there has been a rejection.

Please pull the Payment Reports to further understand why.

How To Get a Report on Payments Made Or Declined?

Click payment breakdown report in the menu bar

Click the green Successful Payment button and you will automatically download a letter that you need to sign and send to covid19UIFemployerpaymentreturns@labour.gov.za with proof that you have distributed the funds to your employees.

  • After you have clicked the button, you will be able to see the list of employees that have
    been paid and how much has been allocated to each employee
  • Click the EXCEL button to download this list.

Click the red Declined Payment button and a list of your staff who have been declined payment will come up onto the screen.

Reasons for rejection will include:

  1. “Employee not declared by the Employer”– you need to go to https://www.ufiling.co.za/uif/ and declare these employees (if you have been paying your UIF contributions). Go to Page 5 for a step-by-step on how to do this
  2. “Application Not Processed yet” – you need to wait as payment should be made in a few days
  3. “Failed Branch Code Validation” – you need to go to your profile and update your branch code on your profile to the universal branch code for your branch.
